This policy explains what personal information KitabZone ("we", "us") collects through kitabzone.com, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us at checkout:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number, if you choose to provide it
Information created by your order: your order number, the eBooks purchased, the amount paid, payment status, and the identifiers Razorpay returns to us for the transaction.
Information collected automatically: a session cookie that keeps your cart working, and standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) kept by our hosting provider for security and diagnostics.
2. Information we do not collect
We never receive or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN, or netbanking credentials. Those are entered on Razorpay's secure checkout and handled entirely by Razorpay.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Purchases are intended to be made by parents, guardians, teachers or other adults.
3. How we use your information
- To process your payment and deliver the eBooks you bought
- To generate and re-issue your secure download links
- To send you an order confirmation
- To respond to support requests you send us
- To keep records required for accounting and tax purposes
- To detect and prevent fraud or misuse of the website
We do not send marketing emails unless you have asked us to, and we will never sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
4. Who we share information with
We share the minimum necessary information with:
- Razorpay — our payment gateway, to process your transaction. Razorpay handles your data under its own privacy policy.
- Our hosting provider — which stores the website and database on our behalf.
- Our email provider — if order confirmation emails are enabled, to deliver your confirmation.
- Authorities — where we are legally required to disclose information.
5. Cookies
We use a single essential session cookie so that your shopping cart and any applied discount code persist while you browse. It is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. If we add analytics in future, we will update this policy and provide a choice where required.
6. How long we keep your information
Order records are kept for as long as we are required to retain them for accounting and tax purposes under Indian law. Download tokens expire after 30 days. Session cookies are cleared when you close your browser.
7. How we protect your information
The website is served over HTTPS. Passwords for administrative access are stored using one-way hashing. Purchased eBook files are stored outside the public web folder and are only released through single-use, expiring, tokenised links. Access to our database is restricted.
No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data.
8. Your rights
You may ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Delete your information, where we are not required to keep it for legal or accounting reasons
Write to sales@kitabzone.com and we will respond within a reasonable period. Please note that deleting your order record may remove your ability to re-issue download links.
9. Third-party links
Our website may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
